Farming Simulator 15 Chaff: An Introduction To The Secondary Crop

Farming Simulator 15 Chaff

Farming Simulator 15 Chaff : The word Chaff can be defined as a category of secondary crop or plant matter in the game Farming Simulator 15 that can essentially be wholly shredded up. It is derived from a specialized type of Harvester and has a specific header mounted over it. Also, it is run over a particular kind of crop to make it what it is. It is the output of wheat, barley, canola, corn, or grass in the base game. It can also be produced from mowed grass and straw. Unmowed grass is the least effective option for the lot. The most fruitful of these options is the chaffing corn. This crop is then used to reap Silage and produce a massive profit but cannot be sold in its raw form.

There are only two harvesters in the game that can carry out the chaffing, including the Pottinger Mex 5 and the Krone Big X 1100. However, they do not have their holding tanks and constantly dump the produced Chaff in a tipper during the harvesting process. They have a special pipe that can rotate 360 degrees and locate nearby tippers automatically.

Acquiring large amounts of Chaff to process is through entering a cornfield. The Krone X Disc 6200 header can also potentially chaff wheat, barley, canola, and uncut grass, a feat which the Mex 5 may not be able to accomplish.

Collecting shredded grass and straw is also an effective method of producing Chaff, both visible lying on the ground behind machines that create them. Chaff can either be collected this way or through a loading wagon. It is, however, best to run a windrower over the desired area before it so the grass or straw can neatly be arranged and ready for an easy pick-up.

Farming Simulator 15 Chaff – Getting Chaff and Making it into Silage

The Big X 1100 can be considered a self-propelled chaff harvester and does not include a header when purchased. There are, however, three different headers that can be used for different types of crops to be harvested, but sometimes when chaffing corn and paired with the Hired Worker, it has no trailers attached to it. A tractor or truck needs to be manually driven with a tipper or two followings as it is worked up over the corn. Manual driving allows for the tippers to be driven freely.

When chaffing manually, it is essential to note that the Harvester must be turned off as soon as there is no longer any space left to dump the Chaff into it. It will continue to destroy the chaffed crop will fail to produce anything else further.

First Way

One of the ways to produce Silage includes getting a harvester, a typical tractor-like vehicle. Taking it to a field of abundant corn will allow it to harvest the crop and turn it into Chaff. Players can hire a worker and get a tipper out attached to another following vehicle in its trailer. The two cannot drive side by side or too close to each other, but rather one behind the other, so the trailer tipper is more accessible to the edge of the Harvester.

The Harvester needs to be in cruise control mode while in the field. When done navigating through it, it can be driven along with the raw products over to the bio plant or fermentation bunker. It can also be taken back to your farm and dumped there. It can be turned into Silage later from thereon.

Second Way

Another way to carry this process out is by getting a harvester with a direct cutting disc and two smaller trailers to follow behind it, cutting or mowing the grass or other crops and filling the trailer up as it goes. When it is full of Chaff or filled according to one’s liking, players can get a bulldozer and go over the product to compact it. They must go over it back and forth until a notification pops up, saying compacting or compaction to 100%. The bulldozer is the best vehicle to perform this activity, considering how heavy it is in weight. It can also help load the Chaff into the trailer or bring it further for selling.

A blanket must be put over the compacted produce or bunker, and when the process is done, Silage will come out of it. The bunker will automatically uncover itself containing the output, which can be mixed with hay to create a total mixed ration or used independently.

The use of Chaff to either form Silage or sell on its own is one of the most profitable economic pursuits in the game, and it also requires a low amount of work to carry forward, which is another plus point.
